Strong, durable easy to use
I’ve had this enclosure now for around a month and to say I am very happy is an understatement.It is very easy to install a 2230 NVME SSD into the device, comes with a thermal pad pre-cut to size.Solid metal enclosure with the rubber protector around and the USB-C to C as a loop is a great idea (Though I wouldn’t suggest using it as a tie loop due to chance of the connector slipping).I can’t see myself buying another one anytime soon but that is purely down to the durability of the enclosure, this is a perfect little addition to my full size NVME caddies.Very happy customer.
Does its job but drive gets real hot
Drive gets hot, real hot. The fan cools the wrong side, even filling it with thermal pads so the case could dissipate more heat only helped by 5-10 degrees. Great for a quick burst transfer. Wouldn’t leave it plugged in for longer than 15 minutes though the temps creep up. I’m considering removing the cover and applying a small copper heatsink and 40mm 5v noctua powered via a separate usb. If I hadn’t of scratched it trying to improve temps I would of sent it back
Somewhat flawed, but still a good option.
This item is a little larger than it appears, being about 2″ (5cm) square… which makes it unnecessarily bulky for a keyring plus there is no kind of sealing against moisture, and the metal inner part is completely separate from the outer part which is a silicone rubber type material, so in that application the device could potentially slip out and be lost…. plus the tab where the ring mounts appears a little weak.Overall, I would have preferred the rubber part to be deleted, and the ring to be directly attached to a loop in the die cast alloy part (especially as the cover for the USB socket is a bit loose)…. also it could easily be 0.5″ (1cm) narrower which would make it easier to carry on a keyring etc.Personally, I dismantled the device and used acrylic conformal coating on the PCB to protect it, as well as the NVMe card I used, and I used a liberal amount of dielectric grease on the connector as I do expect this to be in a fairly harsh environment periodically.I also used a very strong adhesive to attach the silicone part to the metal part after installation of the NVMe device so that there is no risk of them being separated, and I will have to keep an eye on the silicone rubber loop to see if it remains strong, …. still there are few options for keyring mounting an NVMe, and this does seem to be one of the best.
Great quality, same as another brand, however cheaper, appears to be the best passive cooled enclosure, temperatures are reasonable. The best feature is that it is quite, no annoying fan noise which I hate.Highly recommended as a better value for money alternative.The only challenge is that the USB4 cable plugs will not allow adjacent Thunderbolt connections on the Apple M4 Mac Mini, I just purchased an additional 30cm standard USB4 cable, which works great.

I hade upgraded my laptop to a 2TB drive, but needed somewhere to place the original 256GB SSD. This case is perfect for that purpose. its fairly rugged, however there is no gasket in this guy, so I would not dunk this in water. The bumper case is perfect for protecting it when you inevitably drop it. The integrated cable into the carabiner is nice, however don’t expect to use it like a carabiner. there is not enough friction to keep the cable from coming loose. I would also be wary of this part as I do not know how long it will last.For the important parts of connecting this to my desktop. I don’t have any issues. Transfer speeds are slower than an actual thunderbolt device, but works well for transferring a lot of small files. Don’t get an expensive drive for this guy, the 10GBs is only going to really max out at 1000mb/s, 2000mb/s if you are lucky. so any NVME that is faster than 2gb/s is not going to see an appreciable speed difference.Overall it does what it needs to do and nothing else. perfect for my needs.
