Good quality ssd
Having tried 2 other cheaper ssd i decided to spend a little more on a well know brand like Crucial , hoping it wasn’t a fake of course, the other ssd i have had from Amazon were a waste of money, its true what they say “buy cheap buy twice” or in my case buy 3 times ( i did get my money back on the 2nd one), one failed in less than a year with hardly any use the second read speed was poor and when half full dropped to 109 Mb/s.This drive speed is running to spec so hopefully it will last as long as my Samsung in the other pc.

Good disk, but Amazon tricked me and offered a used one.
The disk is great no matter that Amazon didn’t tell me that it was used. Although, all S.M.A.R.T. tests passed.

It works just fine
Contents and additional hardware requirements:As expected, just the bare drive is supplied. You will need a SATA cable, a spare power connection and (e.g. if fitting in a 3.5″ bay in a desktop PC) a mounting bracket. If you are replacing an existing HDD you can typically use the existing SATA and power cables but may need the bracket. If this is an additional drive you will normally have a spare power connection but may need an extra SATA cable; make sure you get one of a suitable length, and if the drive connection is near the case you may need a right-angle connector on one end for it to fit comfortably.Fitting:In my case I was replacing an existing 2.5″ 240GB SATA SSD in one of the 3.5″ bays of a Dell Optiplex 7010 mini-tower. This was done as follows. Disconnect power and SATA cable from old drive; eject quick release drive caddy; unclip mounting bracket from caddy; undo 4 x cross-head screws to release old drive from mounting bracket; then reverse this procedure to fit the new drive. This took less than 5 minutes. Note that on desktop PCs which do not use quick release caddies, access to screws can be difficult; for laptops the entire procedure may be considerably more difficult and time consuming.A note about SATA ports:If your device has multiple SATA ports, it’s important to connect your SSD to the correct port. For example my desktop PC has four SATA ports on the motherboard, and they are colour coded as follows:Port 0: Blue, speed=6GB/s, default boot devicePort 1: Black, speed=6GB/sPorts 2 and 3: White, speed=3GB/sIn this case, the operating system (boot) drive should normally be attached to port zero. Non-boot SSDs should be attached to port 1.SSDs should not normally be attached to ports 2 and 3 since this will halve their speed – these ports should ideally only be used for slower devices like HDDs and optical drives.Other PCs will have different arrangements, typically described in a technical manual on the manufacturer’s website, and all SATA ports may be full speed on your device.Operation:Powered up the PC, partitioned, formatted and mounted the drive and it works just fine. As I use Linux, I performed various manual steps to get it set up as per my requirements. The capacity (960GB) and the speed (6Gb/s via one of the SATA III ports) were as expected.I understand that for Windows, if you’re using it as an additional data drive you need to use the “Disk Management” tool to partition and format the drive; if you’re replacing your main drive and re-installing Windows then the Windows installer will perform these steps for you.Endurance:As is normal for such a product, if it works initially the only real test is how long it lasts (typically measured by amount of data written), which I won’t know for some time. SMART data currently shows the drive as healthy with all indications normal.

Taking the leap from HDD to SSD
Bought this to replace a 1TB hard drive. This is my first experience with SSD units for my desktop. I’ve been experiencing BSODs and random pauses, which may or may not have been the first signs of drive failure. And I know that mechanical hard drives will eventually fail, so time to move forward with the SSD. I’ve replaced root drives before, so the procedure wasn’t very difficult; the software used by Crucial worked fine, but it does take a while to build up a drive image. You have to resist clicking on buttons or trying to exit it, thinking it’s frozen up.Once I had copied the old drive onto the new one, it was just a matter of sorting out the cables to unplug the old drive. It used to take upwards of several minutes to boot and then I had 100% drive usage for ten minutes or more while the antivirus and other stuff load and sort themselves out. The desktop now boots up much faster and I’m ready to go within two minutes of hitting the power button. I plan on eventually replacing my second 1TB drive with another SSD at some point.I also can’t believe how physically small this drive is; I’ve spent years working with disk drives and expected this to be of a similar size. But it’s tiny! I guess I’m just getting old.

Not as good as the MX 500 but those are discontinued. They work well for what I needed, the speed is acceptable and the price is right.

I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 that is 8 years old. Although I perform most tasks on my phone, I like to keep a laptop computer around to perform certain tasks that require a lot of typing and for printing documents. It got to where it was running extremely slow and often freezing. I decided to upgrade it instead of buying a new computer in order to save money and extend the life of my current laptop.Upgrading to 16 GB of RAM, replacing the hard drive with a solid state drive, and a fresh install of windows has brought new life back to my old PC. This SSD is great value for the money. Perfect compatibility with the Dell Inspiron 3521 and easy to install.

Good for expanding storage when all m2 slots are occupied or for an older computer. using it as an Secondary os drive for dual booting Linux there are no dram chache not recommended for Windows boot drive Linux works well or for most games or general storage
