This wired compact keyboard is a solid, no-frills choice for my laptop setup, saving desk space while delivering reliable performance. The scissor-switch keys are quiet and responsive, making typing feel natural and precise for long emails or coding sessions without the clicky noise that annoys my wife nearby. The USB-C connector plugs straight in for instant use across my Windows PC and MacBook, and the 12 shortcut keys speed up everyday tasks like copy-paste or media controls. It’s lightweight and slim, easy to toss in my bag for travel, and the black finish looks clean without fingerprints showing up much. Half the size of a full keyboard but with all the essentials, it fits my crowded workspace perfectly. Only downside is no programmable options beyond basics, so it’s not for heavy customization. Overall, it’s a durable, affordable essential that keeps things simple and efficient!

I go through a lot of keyboards. I use them in my homelab, where I have far too many computers. In my case, space is at a premium, and I wanted something compact and reliable, and this Kensington board delivers.QUALITY OF BUILDIt’s made out of plastic, but not a cheap feeling plastic. It seems rather durable from basic use, and Kensington products tend to be reliable over time. The plastic backing has a bumpy texture, and feels good in hand. And the board itself is solid and unlikely to break accidentally. It feels a couple steps above the LogiTech keyboards that you see in large IT deployments/workplaces — that is, for a budget device, it’s fantastic.KEYSThe travel distance on the keys is just long enough to feel comfortable, and the board does make a moderate/quiet clicky clack noise when you use it. It is not a mechanical keyboard, however, so don’t expect that. (See video.) It’s best compared to a midrange laptop keyboard. The keys are also well enough spaced that you don’t have to worry about misclicks.PORTSThe USB-C native port is a great addition for a flexible modern keyboard. It works with my phone, too, in a pinch.DRIVERSBecause it’s a Kensington device, it doesn’t need any fancy drivers. Just works out of the box. I’ve tried it on my Android phone, my Mac Mini, my Ubuntu thinkpad, and my Windows 11 desktop, and they all work great.VALUEFor $30, this is a fantastic buy.
