Cloudlifter CL-1 Mic Activator Up to +25 dB of clean audio gain Make any home recording set-up sound more professional Compatible with dynamic, ribbon, tube, battery, or power supply driven microphones Uses +48v Phantom Power, but does not pass power to the mic, making it safe for ribbon mics Original Mic Activator – Made in the USA
Cloud Microphones About Us
Cloud Microphones manufactures top-of-the-line microphones, activators, and more! Cloud’s Ribbon Microphones and patented Cloudlifter Mic Activators are used by artists, engineers, podcasters, creators, broadcasters, and venues all over the world. Cloud Mic’s Cloudlifters are manufactured in the US and on the Navajo Reservation, supporting small businesses in the southwest.

Bring Your Mics to Life
Cloudlifters increase the sensitivity of your microphone and bring its natural tonal characteristics into focus. The single-channel Cloudlifter CL-1, two-channel Cloudlifter CL-2, and rack-mountable four-channel Cloudlifter CL-4 all provide up to +25 dB of ultra-clean gain with fixed impedance loading at 3 kΩ, optimized for a wide variety of microphones.
Each one is designed to dramatically improve the sensitivity and performance of lower-output microphones. Whether you’re using an expensive, professional-grade microphone/preamp combination or common microphones with a basic home setup, Cloudlifters provide more signal from the microphone itself, allowing the preamp to operate in its optimal gain range by reducing the amount of gain needed.
This reduces noise and distortion, bringing more of the microphone’s natural character into focus. For those recording professionally, at home, or performing on stage, Cloudlifters are valuable tools that deliver high-quality, professional audio.

Up to +25 dB of Gain
Hear more of your dynamic and ribbon microphone’s natural character and increase the clarity with +25dB of ultra-clean gain. Cloudlifters provide ultra-clean gain in two distinct stages while optimizing impedance loading.
The Cloudlifter uses +48v Phantom Power, but does not pass power to the mic. For this reason, the Cloudlifter is a great way to keep your ribbon and tube mics safe from exposure to Phantom Power, while providing the extra gain they need.

Reduce Unwanted Feedback
As a result of increased sensitivity and ultra-clean gain, the amount of gain required by the preamp is reduced significantly. This also reduces noise and improves the natural frequency response of the mic by allowing the preamp or interface to operate within its comfort zone!

Perfect for Podcasts, Professional & Home Studios, AV, and Live Sound
Whether you are a pro studio looking for more gain from your ribbon or tube mics, or narrating a podcast or video with a dynamic mic, it’s easy to create quality content with the Cloudlifter.

Does exactly what it says on the tin
Incredible piece of kit. Just plug and play and has eliminated my crackle and hissing from how high I had to turn the gain up for my SM7B!
If you have a Shure SM7B you need one of these.
So I got a Shure SM7B and there can be no doubting how good it is, but I was still getting a bit of noise in the signal and did some research and this little box of tricks seemed to be what everybody was recommending, so I took the plunge and made the purchase.Wow! It just brought the Shure SM7B and made it even more amazing and I now have a really clean signal going into my desk and my recordings are like night and day compared to my old set up.Bottom line if you have a Shure SM7B you definitely need one of these…well worth the money and can highly recommend.
Works Great
Works perfectly with my Shure SM7B.
FINALLY, I can sound LOUD!
I’ve used both a Blue spark mic and a Shure SM7B and both require post production edits to raise the volume. Turning up the gain on my pre-amp simply wouldn’t cut it since it introduced the inevitable hiss. I noticed that many people recommended the Cloudlifter and a ‘must-have’ if you own an SM7B. Since I just bought an SM7B and was witnessing the same need to pump up the volume, I took the plunge. No power is necessary which is a bonus, since it draws the phantom power from the pre-amp and essentially powers itself (and obviously the mic). There’s nothing to shout about other than the unit does EXACTLY what it reports to do. It raises the volume of the mic without any unwanted noise. The phantom power is not eradicated using a dynamic mic, it’s EMPLOYED – as it should be!The result is that I’m managed to be able to reduce my gain by a quarter on the dial…and no post-production volume changes are necessary! Perfect! This takes away from my workload since I churn out instructional videos by the dozen and something forget that I need to pump up the volume. The unit is solid metal and built like a tank. I imagine this to be the ideal solution fr those people who might use this in the road. though mine is ‘on display’ lying on its side with the logo showing, the unit has large rubber feet which allows it to sit securely on a desk. The XLR’s snap in nicely and firmly. There’s shady copies of the cloudlifter on the market for a fraction of the price, but people have stripped them down to see that the ‘meat’ inside is far inferior in contrast. The copies produce a loud of unwanted noise too.I’m with those people who recommend the cloudlifter for the SM7B, since it works a charm. I see no reason why it wouldn’t work great for other dynamic mics too. If you’re looking for that boost in volume, just buy one.
Really good for ribbon mics
I have had one for five years. Use phantom power to 1) preamp for ribbon mic. great preamp with minimal noise-floor where you have to EQ it up a bit in hi mids, and 2) same for all dynamic mics to give you a bit more level to play with. Would recommend unconditionally. for anyone recording with ribbon mics, which I have found makes more forward sound in the mix. Especially good for female vocals and acoustic guitars.
Well I am surprised.
Over the years I have tried all kinds of mics for recording acoustics and always had the same problems, either too quiet or too sensitive to movement and breathings etc. I was advised to buy a shure sm57, which turned out to be way too quiet even with phanton power in use.Anyway i decided that despite the expensive price tag id risk it and give this a go. It actually works, I can still hear a bit of noise and breathing etc, but I’ve only just got it and that’s on the mic not this gadget. So yeah I still have to learn how to use my mic properly, but this device did do exactly what it was supposed to, so i’m happy. It’s probably a bit too expensive for what it is, so it’s not getting 5 stars but it is good, just hope it lasts.
Does what it promises
Boosted the gain for my Shure SM7B microphone for perfect sound quality, as promised.
Clean gain and easy to set up
I’ve got two of these now and use them the Shure SM7B mics. I record podcasts for the company I work for and these products give the mics that little boost I need to get solid recordings every time. Super easy to set up, just make sure you can provide them with phantom power. They can be pricey, but having used a fethead and I can safely say these give b superior performance in every environment I find myself in when recording.
Good quality and works well
The cloud lifter let me use my sm7b
„Made in USA“ steht hier definitiv für Qualität.
This gadget is said to amplify the audio from your microphone to an external soundcard. Alas it does not work. Do not bother with this.
