Cheap and impressive upgrade from ISP router
Like many others, I bought this to replace the sky max hub which i found to be less than adequate to serve my 3 bed house. The RT-AX52 was one of the first routers that popped up when searching for a WiFi 6 router, and after a quick google session, found that it was compatible with the sky fibre. As others say, it was straight forward to set up by simply connecting the cable from the ONT to the WAN port, and switching the unit on. I then navigated to the routers web page where it asked me to set a login password, and then enabled me to set my SSID and password. The wifi signal throughout the house is now much improved, with the asus giving a 5Ghz connection at near enough full speed in areas where the sky hub had struggled to maintain a 2.4Ghz connection, even with a multitude of devices all connected and streaming at the same time. The router has many other useful functions which i am taking advantage of including a free DDNS hostname and VPN server, aswell as parental controls so i can restrict the kids from accessing things they shouldnt be accessing. The app comes in handy for seeing who’s connected, and also enables me to block internet access to certain devices at the click of a button which helps keeps the kids in line. Also, if you need to reboot it for any reason, it is really quick and you dont have to wait 20 minutes for it come back on like you do with ISP routers!All in all I would recomend this router to anyone looking to improve their wifi coverage and speed, from beginners to experts. Really easy to set up and use – even for those with no experience, and has the advanced features available for those who need them. 10/10 and a bargain at this price – treat yourself.
Improves the native connection of a Virgin Hub 4
So far this has been an awesome upgrade. I have connected this to a Virgin Hub 4 (which is set in modem mode). Immediately my wired and wireless speeds have improved and my ping has reduced by about 10ms. I chose this model specifically as it has Wireguard VPN built in which I am using to allow my children at University to tunnel through my home connection to watch subscription services that we have a family account for. So far this seems to work although I am not sure as yet if those services are clever enough to detect this. I will update my review if they are eventually blocked.I can’t comment on the Wireless 7 aspect as I don’t have any wireless 7 devices to test with it, but as this is only a dual band router and does not have 6GHz capability I am not sure it is Wireless 7 capable without a 6Ghz extender (which you can add). But the Wireless 6 speeds are certainly improved. The range is not that much better than the native wireless in the Virgin HUB 4, but my house does not deal well with wireless anyway due to the fact the walls have a wire mesh embedded in them.Overall though a great product and I am very happy with it.
Impressive, but…
Paid £264.99 in September 2025.I’ve been using Asus since 2013, and it’s been pretty good, except for a few firmware glitches. Install Merlin firmware to get the best out of the router.The only problems I’ve had were with upgrading WiFi (5, 6, 7) with stuff like Google Nest speakers, TP-Link plugs, and cameras… man, switching from WiFi 6 to 7 really tested me. I thought 5 to 6 was bad enough.If I’d known how much of a pain it would be to go from 6 to 7, I would have just stuck with 6. But I also needed the 10 gig to future-proof my fiber connection.The IoT network setting is useless and doesn’t work. The only way I got things stable was by adding an older WiFi 5 access point for all my IoT stuff; problems vanished after that, and I should have done it years ago.My list of Asus routers owned are as follows,RT-AC56URT-AC58URT-AC68URT-AC86U (IoT Access Point)GT-AX6000 (AIMesh Node)RT-BE88U (Main Router)All of them still working to this day! Touch wood!Overall, the LAN/WAN speed is beyond perfect. The CPU and RAM for this thing have plenty of power for anything most users are going to throw at it, plenty of features but most of them are snake oil, like AI Protection and at less than half the price of the BE98, makes it perfect value.I use quite a few custom scripts and configs to keep the router fresh and monitor my connection thanks to Merlin. But the WiFi compatibility with older devices is a bit of a letdown. I guess that’s what I get for upgrading to the newest WiFi standard that’s two steps forward, one step back.
Ce routeur m’a permis d’attendre la pose de la fibre. C’est un “game changer” face aux clés 4G pas chères ou systèmes cantonnés à une prise murale jamais bien placée. Le débit est toujours là, l’interface web réagit, pas de pertes inopinées de la config… pas de comportement bizarre quand on change un paramètre (trop souvent vu chez d’autres marques même réputées).L’interface est propre et compréhensible. L’application est aussi fluide et facile à utiliser.Le seul bémol serait qu’il ne met pas assez en exergue le côté 4G alors que c’est justement son gros point fort!Les seuls problèmes de déconnection que j’ai eu semblaient provenir de mon opérateur (comme si Free partageait de la bande passante et se permettait de rompre les flux par moments.

Kendi kullanımım açısından hiç olumsuz yönüyle karşılaşmadım.-Çekim gücü 100 m^2 yakın evde her köşede aynı diyebilirim (özellikle 5 GHz performansı çok iyi).- Uzak diye 2.4 GHz bağlantıya ihtiyaç dahi duymuyorsunuz, şahsen ben kapattım bu özelliği, komple 5 GHz ağları kullanıyorum. 2.4 GHz/5 GHz olacak şekilde de bir IoT ağı yaratıp bu ağa evdeki akıllı cihazları bağladım ve daha rahat kontrol sağlıyorum böylece.- Online oyunlar oynayan biriyim ve OpenNAT seçeneği ile yüzlerce oyunda ping iyileştirmesi, iyileştirme olmasa bile sabitlemesi ve performans artışı sağlayabiliyorsunuz (Türkiye’nin en doğusunda oturuyorum ve çeşitli Avrupa sunucularında ancak 80 ms sabit alabiliyorum, hiç aksama olmadan).- Yine oyunlar için RT-BE86U router’ın oyunlara özel ethernet portunu kullanarak ve Adaptive QoS ile ayarlarınızı yaparak, belirli indirme hızlarını isterseniz arka planda sabitleyerek isterseniz de default ayarları kullanarak internetinizde başka kullanıcılar indirme yaparken dahi gecikme konusunda yüksek performans alabilirsiniz.- Gigabit indirme hızına sahip yine gigabit ONT cihazı da içeren bir internet kullanıyorum ve ethernet/wi-fi 7 5 GHz üzerinden genellikle 850-950 Mbit/s indirme hızlarına ulaşabiliyorum ki genelde 930 Mbit/s zaten telekom tarafından sınır sayılabilir.- Yine router’ın güzel özelliklerinden olan kullanıcı dostu bir arayüz, bu arayüz ile misafir ağlarını ve normal ağları kolayca yönetebilme, ağdaki istediğiniz cihazı kolayca görebilme, isim verebilme gibi çeşitli harika yönleri de bulunmakta. Şimdi bunlar hepsinde var diyebilirsiniz fakat gerçekten çok basit ve kullanıcı dostu bir kullanıcı arayüzü sizi karşılayacak, bundan emin olabilirsiniz.- MLO (Multi Link Operation) yani cihazdaki 2.4 GHz ve 5 GHz bantlarını aynı anda kullanarak size daha güçlü bir bağlantı sunabiliyor, ben denediğimde bunun performansını 5 GHz’e göre çok da farklı bulmadım ki zaten benim amacım ayrı kullanmaktı, yine de Wi-Fi 7’nin getirdiği güzel bir özellik.- 256 GB’lık USB 3.0 ve üstü bir flash bellek edindim ve ev ağımın içerisinde evdeki kullanıcıların birbirlerine büyük boyutlu dosyaları gönderebilmeleri için çeşitli klasörler oluşturdum, gerçekten kolay ve kullanışlı oldu bu da.- Ayrıca ASUS cihazlarına özel OpenWRT işlerini yapan public yazılımlar da var, bunlarla ilgiliyseniz routerınızın performansını katlayabilirsiniz bazı özellikler için.-Son olarak Wi-Fi 7 bu routerda 3 bant olarak gelmiyor, 2 bant olarak var. Günümüzde Wi-Fi 7 cihazların 3 bant (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz) olanları zaten ya çok yüksek fiyat bandında olan cihazlar ya da geneli zaten 2 bant kullanan cihazlar. Bu yüzden ben yabancı sitelerdeki inceleme performanslarına da bakarak 3 bantlı olanlardan tercih etmedim. Bu router’ın en az 10-15 yıl gibi bir süre götüreceğini düşünüyorum Türkiye’deki internet hızları ve performansının ortalamasına bakarak.Özetleyecek olursak, benim gibi sağda solda çekmiyor eski modemim/routerım diyorsanız, yıllarca kullanabilecek bir cihaz alayınm diyorsanız, gözünüz kapalı alabilirsiniz. Şuna da değinmek lazım, fiyat bandı diğer routerlara göre biraz yüksek denebilir, Wi-Fi 7 olunca özellikle bir iki ucuz ürün dışında bu tarz özellikleri olan bir cihaz istiyorsanız zaten bu fiyat bantlarına yaklaşıyorsunuz, artık bu da bütçenize ve öz değerlendirmenize kalmış bir durum. Özellikle düzgün, sabit bir bağlantı ile oyunlarda sabit ve güzel bağlantı gecikme performansı istiyorsanız yine buna yönelebilirsiniz. Yabancı inceleme yapanların dediği gibi “future proof” yani geleceğe uyumlu, geleceğe yatırımlı bir ürün Türkiye şartlarında, fiziksel olarak bozulmadığı sürece yıllarca kullanılır, üzmez.

Very stable router, setting it up was very easy and it has greater wireless range and speed. I connected it as a main router and also connected my other ASUS GT-AX6000 in a wire backhaul AiMesh system, works like a charm. Now I get one SSID in both floors of my house and devices switch between the routers seamlessly depending on the range.
