Works
Very simple to navigate ui. Easy set up note if you do buy this put it in bridge mode as long as u have a mesh styme like decos n get decent speeds speeds vary on location I get easy 300 down n 50-70 up plenty good enough for what I need could get even better speeds. Like said all depends location and for 20 quid can’t complane with if you do get it don’t use it modern mode as it have less speed then decos that’s why said keep in bridge mode as decos give better speed. But over all after trying several different lte. This by fair best IV used ax3000 n was rubbish n X2 as much n other things so yes MC 888 ultra brilliant get one. Trust me
As Described
ZTE MC888 ultra 5GHaven’t had the product for long , but can’t fault it.Previously was using a three year old TP-Link 4G+ modem. At the same location with the same Network and SIM card I went from and average download speed of 30mbps to 57mbps on 4G+ (no 5G where I live)Huge service improvement . Easy to use app.I would have liked it to be cloud based like the TPLINK , so that I can check it remotely .It is a bit pricey but it performs. Strongly recommended.
Can’t recommend to anyone who uses wired ethernet
Initial impressions of this device were good, it’s quick setup worked and it got online quickly finding the correct 3internet apn for my SIM card. I only needed to adjust the WiFi settings. Unfortunately that’s where things went bad, I discovered that the wrong power brick had been supplied with this one which is meant for the more basic MC888, it only outputs 1.5amps but the MC888 ultra requires 2amps.The top wired ethernet port didn’t work at all, and I couldn’t find anything in the settings to enable it, so assuming it had a hardware fault. The bottom ethernet port did work, but only for a few minutes before it decided to disconnect the laptop plugged into it. I had similar issues with a ZTE G5B. The 5ghz WiFi channel on this router is limited to channels 36 to 48 which every other router uses by default, so no DFS channels. The WiFi on this though is fairly decent, it’s AX6000 4×4 mimo and did work well despite not being able to select a clear channel.Unfortunately I’ve had to return it since it was faulty out of the box and supplied with the wrong power adapter. Your mileage may vary, but if you have any wired devices you want to connect I’d recommend avoiding any CPE made by ZTE as they seem to have issues.
ZTE MC 888 Ultra
Popped in a Smarty unlimited 5g sim in the bottom of the unit (£18 a month ) connected all the devices i use, ( use wifi key not password as thats for accessing the router menu..PC getting a constant 900 mbps and PS5 around 850. … cant complain with that !!Range wont quite get to my shed about 60 feet away with the door shut, so will pick up a small Tp link mesh unit… but easy to set up and blindingly fast ..
Disappointing 5G Speed – Other than that, decent router features.
The maximum speed on my 5G Three DATA Sim was approximately 290Mbps. Extensively tested throughout the day, disappointing for the price. The same Three Sim used in a Netgear Nighthawk M6 PRO reaches 620Mbps in the same location, on average throughout the day its approximately 420Mbps on the M6 Pro.
