Excellent – and I got an extra piece!
This is a really cheap (even compared with ebay purchases) way of getting some basic rack-space. I’ve setup a small Cisco CCNA lab (x2 routers, x1 switch) and it suits my needs perfectly. It has rubberised feet that mean it will safely sit a-top a desk whilst you’re mounting your kit. My purchase (7th Jan 2011) came with 5 pieces: the two uprights, the two feet pieces AND (completely gratis ;O) a cross-piece that connects it all together. Before purchasing I was a little concerned that, from the images given (i’ve added one of my own to show what I received), it looks like the appliances that you mount hold it together – but this is not the case.I also got x20 screws and cage nuts in my package. It’s probably obvious to all but, just in case: this rack isn’t enclosed – so if (like me) you’ve got appliances that make appreciable white-noise, you’ll be hearing it! Also, it is well finished and quite nicely rounded except for the tops of the two uprights. They could give a nasty gash if you (or your small children) fell on/head-butted them. A couple of rubberised mouldings would have been made this a perfect item. As it stands it’s merely excellent!

Great, Multi-Purpose Rack for Audio or Comms Gear
Like most of the other reviewers, I bought this rack to hold a whole bunch of Cisco & associated IT kit that I use for studying. It lives on my workbench in the garage. The rack arrived quickly (way quicker than the estimate) and was well packaged, and consisted of two “legs”, the two rack uprights, a crossbrace piece and a bag of fixings. The rack itself is well made: Small and light enough to be convenient, but reassurringly heavy enough that you don’t think that it’s going to topple over. Each foot connects to each upright with four screws, and there are also rubber feet provided to prevent it scratching anything that you might place it on. The crossbrace piece screws across the bottom 1U and holds the uprights the right distance apart. The rack comes with 20 nuts and bolts to mount your first few bits of kit. They’re new and don’t require too much persuasion to get them into the rack, and certainly don’t require the kind of forcing with a screwdriver that you sometimes get with rack nuts at work! I mounted a couple of Cisco switches in the top of the rack to begin with, and they’re held securely with no danger of them toppling over. As other people have mentioned, due to the angle of the uprights, and the length of the legs, I wouldn’t want to try mounting any full-depth servers in one. However, once I’d mounted my first two switches, I was able to remove the crossbrace, and my Dell rackmount server sits nice & tidy between the legs right down at the bottom with no issue at all.

Very easy to assemble, and very sturdy
I bought this desktop rack to tidy a lot of my audio equipment up. I have 3x synthesizers (that I needed to buy mounting hardware for to fit them to this) and a 19″ audio interface. All together this totals 10U of the 12U space, so I have 2U more space to occupy…which I will. This rack frame is made of heavy gauge powder-coated steel and comes with enough fixings for 5x rack units. For me this means I’ll be one set short and will need to buy an extra set of rack fixings…about £35 for a set of 50 (I need 4 🙁 ). It extremely easy to build…so easy you don’t need any instructions, but some are provided.Excellent piece of equipment. I would highly recommend it.

Racked up 5 stars for me!!!
Over the years I have purchased a few rack mountable bits of audio equipment and decided now is the time to set them properly and found this great piece of kit with all positive reviews. At £30 it was a no brainer for me, it’s so easy to set up and a pretty sturdy rack and even more so once the gear is bolted in, my stuff is quite light so no problems there but probably best not to bolt anything too heavy in it. It came with all the pieces described but also an extra 4 bolts and a blanking plate which gave the rack a bit more rigidity. Good quality and good value so I’m very pleased with it.

Good starter rack for CCNA
This rack is primarily for lighter equipment (up to 50kg in the description) like audio but is a greater starter rack for CCNA – CCNP switches and routers. The rack design is sturdy enough to support this equipment and stands firm. The 20 silver cage nuts and bolts supplied are good quality and hold the equipment well but you would need some more for a full rack. When fully loaded it’s obviously a bit of a pain to move but I doubt most people will ever have that issue.Construction is very straight forward and only takes a short while to put together, the 5 parts are held together by large black bolts with philips ends and are secured without much effort. The rubber feet provide good grip but I don’t really see it moving far anyway. If your just starting out building yourself a CCNA training rack it might also be worth looking atA 1U rack-mountable power distribution unit with surge detectionhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0080OISQQA cable management tidy barhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0022QNJYOSome velcro roll for tyding cables withhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00H8FXPE8hope this helps 🙂

I purchased this rack for a lab that I setup at work and have been pleasantly surprised. Sure the price is a little high for just a couple pieces of angled metal but it serves its purpose extremely well. I have the rack fully populated and it has not bent or bowed in the least degree. When I say fully populated, I’m not talking about rack mounting some weak gear like Brocade 6430-C12s that weight a pound each but rather old FastIron 2402-POEs that weigh nearly 30 pounds each. The width is standard for all normal ears and will accommodate multiple vendors.I was disappointed that the rack only comes with mounting hardware for 6 units (this includes backing placeholders on the near-vertical posts and matching screws to secure the equipment). I was able to find some more hardware around from shipments of other gear that we received that had screws/backing nuts but it would be nice if the unit came with double the included amount. As other reviewers have noted, the rack has a slight rearward lean to it to prevent tipping. The device mounted on the bottom cannot run the full length of the rack as it will dig into the floor but a 19-20″ depth unit fits just fine. It’s somewhat common sense but I recommend mounting your heaviest gear towards the bottom of the rack and lighter equipment on the top. This will keep the center of gravity from being too high up on the rack and prevent accidental tipping (though fully populated you shouldn’t have any issues as it can weigh upwards of 100 pounds and has a slight lean to prevent tipping). There is no real cable management on the rack though you can get creative with hook-and-loop and shouldn’t have any issues keeping equipment looking clean and preventing air flow issues.A great lab rack and would be perfect for smaller TR closets in deployment where you don’t have the money to spend on 4-post systems or full racks in a closet.
