Customers say

Customers find the streaming camera to be better than standard laptop webcams and appreciate its crisp picture quality, with one customer noting zero grain in low light conditions. The camera’s functionality receives mixed feedback – while some say it works very well, others report it stops working after a while. The auto focus feature and light quality also get mixed reviews, with some praising the ring light’s illumination while others find the ring light isn’t the best. The camera’s compatibility with PCs is good, but it doesn’t work with Mac, and while customers appreciate the manual adjustment options, they note that settings aren’t saved. Value for money opinions are divided between those who find it well worth the price and those who consider it not worth the cost.

Sound and autofocus not great, but otherwise it’s the best webcam right now.
I was a little unsure about the Kiyo Ultra from reading reviews, some quoting needing an account login to use the camera interface, but when I got it, it worked perfectly as a plug-and-play camera straight in OBS, which is what I will be using 99% of the time anyway, and for the slightly more fine control of the Razer interface software, no login was required. It’s not goin to be my go-to camera for web chatting since the sound quality leaves something to be desired (I might use it as a camera but get the sound with something else), but for video and still image quality, it’s almost as good as the Panasonic FZ1000 it replaces in my home setup, but with the added convenience of being smaller (thus also fitting on a simple gooseneck mount), and being a webcam I can simply just plug into my computer without a capture card. And it’s no wonder that it is, considering its 1″/1.2 sensor is only a tiny bit smaller than the 1″ sensor of the FZ1000, but with the added advantage of a fixed focal length lens. So, the two only real caveats I have for this camera, which may or may not be important to you: the built-in microphone isn’t great, and autofocus isn’t anything to brag about either. I always use manual focus when recording with webcams as no webcams I’ve used are great in that department, but it is more noticeable with the longer focus throw and fuzzier out-of-focus area of the large-sensor Kiyo Ultra.

Great camera, maybe a bit overkill
A very good camera. Undeniably higher quality than most people will ever need. You can’t use anything higher than 720p on Teams or 1080p on Zoom, for example. It’s also one of the prettiest-looking webcams, compared to things like the Elgato Facecam Pro or Logitech MX Brio.Sometimes when I connect it, it registers as a USB 2.0 device, but usually unplugging it and plugging it back in will resolve this and it will show as a USB 3 device. This may be an issue with the device, but possibly also my setup, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Best I’ve had and I’ve had a few.
Ok, as most users are streamers and more so now normal home users.I know it’s a bit pricey, and I’m guessing most of you will be stepping up from the great stalwart and dam good Logitechs. So let me start by the pros, this thing is sturdy, you could break walls with this thing, that a great feature, withstands some abuse. But here are the best things , for one it saves it’s settings once added, meaning no more messing about with settings everytime we stream. It’s even got HDR tbh I’d steer clear of this, yes it gives a slightly better picture, but it can take up too many resources for average set ups.It also has its own Razor software, we’re you make all your adjustments and save them, you can even make profiles.I have 2, one for daytime and one for night, as lighting is so important.Talking of light, the quality of this camera in dark environments is fantastic. It also has a plastic lense cover , so if your setup is permanent this comes in handy to just clip over the top.So once you set up in its software, you then add it to wherever your using, I stream so it’s OBS, again works great, you can make small changes if you like, such as green screen tweaks, colour, lighting and the like.Only one con really, and that’s the auto focus, as is usual in all these types of camera, just a pain, highly recommend turning off, and using the main manual focus slider in the software if you have a regular spot you use it from.Overall an excellent and in my opinion best can out there, you won’t regret this purchase.I use mine on twitch streaming with my “same name” if you’d like to take a look at the quality. It’s a brilliant top quality camera, highly recommended.

DO NOT BUY – Awful software, unusuable in Teams & Zoom. Loses settings. Features break.
AWFUL, AWFUL SOFTWARE. DO NOT BUYEDIT: And the support is just as bad. A dozen emails to their support team trying to resolve this, and I’ve had a dozen pointless responses. They cannot or will not submit a bug report / feature request to their software engineering team to even begin the process of resolving this.I’m upgrading this review to add more details. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA. The software is awful, the webcam is unusuable in Teams or Zoom meetings. It constantly loses its settings. Two days in and now the Pan/Tilt/Zoom settings have stopped working completely.Awful software and buggy firmware have ruined what should have been a really good webcam.DO NOT BUY. I’m opening a return with Amazon for mine now.====================================Original review:First of all, this is a nicely made camera, and first impressions are good software and excellent customer support. The ring light works well, and also makes it very obvious when your camera is on.But. The software is awful.- The camera isn’t named in Zoom, I have to select “USB Video Device”. My Logitech was named.- In fact, the camera settings are so bad that it’s useless for calls in Teams or Zoom- The preview settings in the Synapse software in no way match the camera view in Zoom, so the settings utility can’t fix the problem- While Zoom is using the webcam I can’t access or change camera profiles in SynapseSo basically, THERE’S NO WAY TO ADJUST WEBCAM SETTINGS. You can adjust the settings while in Synapse only. You can’t adjust the settings for any actual application, and the preview in Synapse doesn’t match what the other applications will get.Worse, the settings are lost every reboot (which I now see is reported online by many previous customers). And two days in I find that the pan, tilt & zoom settings no longer have any effect. This is so much worse than my Logitech it’s a joke.Logitech’s software allows you to change pan, tilt, zoom, focus WHILE YOU’RE IN A MEETING. Imagine that, a webcam that actually lets you use it as a webcam. With Razer you’re locked out of all of that, the softtware is it’s useless. The Razor is clearly false advertising – “Full Camera Controls with Razer Synapse 3” is a lie. You have partial controls with Synapse, which may or may not work, and which don’t cross to other applications.I purchased this camera as an upgrade from my Logitech because I wanted the ability to quickly switch profiles. I have to use Zoom, Teams and OBS with work, and all three need slightly different zoom, pan, tilt and settings. The promised “Full Control” in Synapse 3 is no such thing, you have basic lighting options, and then Razer have added an “Advanced Settings” button which opens the standard Windows webcam control dialog. The problem is NONE OF THESE “ADVANCED SETTINGS” ARE SAVED, which means profiles do not include:- Saturation- Sharpness- Zoom- Exposure- Pan- Tilt- Low light compensationOn top of that, the Razer software has no way to easily switch between profiles. Synapse profiles have no way to add the Kiyo device. Checking online you can add mouse profiles, keyboard profiles, lighting profiles, all of which can be assigned to hotkeys. But Kiyo appears to be in a walled off section of the Synapse software. So the only way to change webcam profiles is to:- Close the application you’re using- Open Synapse- Navigate to the Kiyo webcam- Change your webcam profile- Manually change “advanced” settings – pan, tilt, zoom, exposure, etc…- Close Synapse- Relaunch your applicationAWFUL, AWFUL SOFTWARE. DO NOT BUY
