Having installed my garden lighting system and the pump for my water feature I decided that I would put a simple switch outside to make it just a little more convenient to use these and to be able to have either just the lights or just the pump or use both together. So I got this. It looks pretty decent and solid. But installing turned out to be more hassle than I expected. Normally I am pretty good at wiring. But the instructions were very hard to understand vague at best. I got it wrong causing short circuits. I got my electrician friend who fixed it quickly. His fix looked nothing like what the instructions indicated. But now all is working well and I have what I set out to do. I would give full marks it I do think really clear instructions should be provided.

Dangerous to the unwary. The terminal markings on the item are incorrect – check on the photograph.
‘Power Supply Line hot’ is identified as ‘COM’ (neutral). ‘Light 1 line hot’ is identified as ‘L1’, and the unused terminal is ‘L2’. Wired according to those markings causes a dead short.Because of this, it is probable that the ‘CE’ markings are false.

Good: Well built Waterproof Switch.Bad: The switch looks like it should light up when on (see top of each switch) – It doesn’t – So no idea why that bit of the design is there…
I read some of the reviews about not being able to mount it from the back… cheap plastic… etc. So I did some investigation and the plastics are the best for UV and temperatures… our electrician (certified) commented on the high quality and ease of mounting… it was wired from the back as mounted on a stucco wall. It’s been through 3 maybe 4 New Mexico monsoon winds and rain storms and not a single issue (of course no rusting) … it does sound like a plastic housing because that’s what it is… but I didn’t buy it for the ‘sound’… also checked with the local electrical company and they did not have access to a metal unit. I like this type of switching much better than the more traditional toggle switch weather proof housing.If the sound bothers you… it’s not for you but it you want a good switch… go for it.
