Better than 2025 Ring Outdoor Plus, APART from iOS Critical Notifications, sadly.
I first bought 5 x Ring Outdoor Plus cameras (battery version) but found that the connection to my WiFi was substandard. Despite a very strong WiFi signal (my iPhone shows full WiFi signal where I put the cameras) the units kept failing to connect or reconnect. That made them unusable for me and I will be returning them. However, the picture and App were very good so it’s a shame about the WiFi connection. I decided to try the Arlo 5 Pro as an alternative. The Arlo cameras feel heavy and very well constructed. As with the Ring, the picture and App are very good but, crucially, ZERO problems with my WiFi. The only advantage of the Ring is that it allows iOS critical notifications so allowing an alert even if my iPhone is in silent or sleep made. This is really important to me so, Arlo, PLEASE add this feature to your App so the user can decide if they want to use it or not.
Good camera with a but
Bought this to add to the additional arlo cameras (ultra 2) along with the charging cable that was commonly bought with it.Charging to begin with was okay but only got to 76% before the arlo app indicated incompatible charging cable was fitted and loss of connection for live view kept dropping out so the camera at this time was a complete waste of time. Having researched the issue with arlo it was the cable causing the issue. I ordered the actual arlo cable/power adapter directly (£19.99) and this sorted the issue. Full charge within an hour and no issues with connectivity since.With that issue out of the way the camera works great. Picture quality is what you would expect for 2k.Overall.. i would recommend the camera but if charging via the cable.. get the actual arlo cable from them.
Excellent camera
So far excellent, although tricky moving over to a full contract when you take the camera and install it in another country.
AVOID – useless and faulty and only work 80% of the time is that !!!!
I bought these in April and now they done work….. Amazon not interested and say speak to Arlo and Arlo say it is amazons fault.I would not bother with these cameras – they are poor quality and just do not work. What is the point of a security camera if it only works 80% of the time !!!
Great Purchase – Easy to Set Up and Excellent Picture Quality
Really pleased with the Arlo Pro 5. It was very easy to set up straight out of the box – the app walks you through everything step by step, and I had it up and running in no time.The picture quality is superb, both during the day and at night – really sharp and clear. I feel much more confident knowing I can check in at any time from my phone.Delivery was quick and hassle-free, and everything arrived well packaged. Overall, a great purchase that I’d definitely recommend if you’re looking for a reliable, high-quality home security camera.

Price of Arlo Secure subscription increases every year
These Arlo cameras require an extra Arlo Secure subscription. Without it you will get notifications and will be able to see a live feed, but nothing will be recorded.Arlo knows that once you buy these expensive cameras, you will have no choice but to pay the subscription. They take advantage of that to increase the monthly price each year, this year it is being increased to £11.99/month. This adds up over time and will end up costing more than the cameras themselves over their lifetime.
