The installation was ridiculously easy – I just used the ASUS mobile app, and within minutes the extender was online and linked into AiMesh. No headaches, no complicated settings, and no constant reboots like I’ve experienced with cheaper extenders in the past.The best part is how seamlessly it integrates. My phone, laptop, and smart devices just move from router to extender without me noticing. There’s no juggling between SSIDs or worrying about which access point I’m connected to – it’s one single, unified network. Around the house it performs beautifully. In the living room, I get full speed even while streaming 4K movies and running a video call at the same time. In the garage, where I used to have spotty coverage, my smart cameras and sensors now stay connected reliably. Even in the kitchen, where there are always appliances interfering with the signal, the coverage is strong most of the time, though I’ll admit occasionally the connection weakens a little when I’m right by the oven or fridge. I replaced my old router as one of the nodes in my mesh network as the current node was bottle decking the transfer speedsThis new router replaced the old one as the main feed and the speeds have been a massive increase due to the old router being a previous generation, but works well as a replacement node.Setup was a doddle with the ASUS app.Great product
Poor range. Wireless backhaul hopeless.
Very disappointed with these. I have a fairly large area to cover but have no blind spots with my current mesh set up of 6x AX92u routers. Due to using wireless backhaul, I’m limited to around 450mbit from the nodes but the reviews and advertising suggested I should be able to get over 1gbit using the BE92u. Sadly this was not the case. The nodes insist on connecting to the main router, regardless of uplink preference settings and the range is pitifully small. There were huge gaps in coverage and speeds quickly dropped off as you walked out of the room with the primary router. Sat on top of it I was getting 1gb+ but 20ft away it was half that. Walk into the next room and there were disconnections or drops to 2.4ghz. Totally unfit for purpose (Asus support is really difficult to get through to and hopeless when you do!) and so I returned them. Back to my stable AX92us again. Ah well.

This ASUS router is incredibly powerful with a super stable connection. The best part is that it can be linked with my old ASUS router, so now the Wi-Fi covers every corner of my house perfectly — no more dead spots anywhere! I’m really impressed with its performance and how easy it was to set up. Highly recommended!
Very little in Backup customer support
Found this product to be lacking in support. Have a lot of issues in setting it up the way I wanted. Had a lot of rebooting resetting still no contact with the manufacturer. Spent most of my time having to read through a number of articles and videos. To get anywhere. There is no easy way to contact the manufacturer tried chat. Just going around in circles. Cannot get any one. This was supposed to be an easy transition but is an ongoing issue. It may well be me. Although this unit promises great range – not seeing it at all. This could well be in the setup process. But not moving forward. Still trying the manufactures. But has great potential if it lives up to the marketing.

Does a great job by directing traffic cleverly so that all devices keep good speeds. Nice to have 6ghz band for the few devices that can take advantage of it. Super easy setup and nice wall mount for clean mounting.
Iedereen heeft al een modem-router van zijn provider (bijv. KPN Experiabox v10). De modem-router staat voor wifibereik vaak op een ongunstige plek, in mijn geval de meterkast. Deze wifi uitgeschakeld.Een tweede router is voor gewone consumenten overbodig. Ik heb twee stuks gekocht en als access point (AP) ingesteld. Op zolder en in de woonkamer. De AP’s zijn bekabeld met UTP-kabels. Daarmee vervalt het nut van een duur (en trager) mesh-systeem als draadloze ‘backhaul’. Als AP verliezen processor en geheugen hun relevantie, dus zonde om geld aan te besteden. Uitsluitend de radio’s voor wifibereik zijn in gebruik. Daarmee gaat het energieverbruik naar beneden. Hoegenaamd snellere routers beloven hogere doorvoersnelheden, dankzij o.a. tri-band of 160MHz-kanaalbreedte. Dat is vooral een papieren werkelijkheid, waar je in de praktijk geen voordeel van zal ervaren (bijv. omdat de clients het niet ondersteunen of 160MHz-kanaalbreedte instabiel is of het 6GHz-netwerk op afstand snel signaal verliest). Het zendvermogen van alle routers is wettelijk gemaximaliseerd. Kortom, een draadloos netwerk wordt niet sneller door meer geld uit te geven.Twee exemplaren levert quad-band op tegen een fractie van de prijs met een laag energieverbruik. Meer heb je mijns inziens niet nodig. Waar het om gaat is juiste MHz-breedte, kanaalkeuze en bovenal een goede locatie van het AP. Zet ‘smart connect’ uit en geef beide 2,4- en 5GHz-netwerken verschillende SSID-namen. Maar geef beide AP’s dezelfde SSID-namen en dezelfde wachtwoorden. Dan roamen de clients naadloos in huis. Zet WPS uit.De ASUS is als AP bloedsnel, zeer compact, energiezuinig, verticaal op te hangen (hoera!), eenvoudig in de setup en via de uitgebreide webinterface is alles te configureren zoals het uitzetten van de felle blauwe LED-lampjes met het knopje achterop. Voor toegang tot de webinterface zoek je het toegewezen IP-adres eenvoudig op in de modem-router van je provider. Leuk om je er in te verdiepen of vraag even je handige neefje. Beter wordt het niet voor een normale consument. Laat je niet in de luren leggen door alle stoere technomarketing. Zonde van je geld. Topdeal.

Vengo de usar un RT-AX88U (el anterior, no “Pro”) que ha estado (y seguirá estando) funcionando 7×24 durante unos 5 años y pico sin problema alguno. Lo voy a cambiar de ubicación para seguir dándole uso y he puesto en casa ahora esta versión “Pro”.La mejora en la parte WiFi es apenas perceptible aunque no he hecho pruebas a fondo todavía… lleva funcionando 2 semanas de forma muy estable, fue tan fácil como salvar la configuración anterior e importarla en este… un pequeño cambio en una Guest WiFi que uso para IoT y nada más… bueno sí, borré el AiMesh con un Asus RP-AX58 al que a ratos parecía no haberle hecho gracia el cambio aunque funcionaba desde el boot del nuevo… Un reset y reconfiguración del nodo AiMesh y otra vez estabilidad con el RP-AX58 como siempre.Sí se nota que está menos congestionado en cuestión de capacidad de proceso, normal viniendo de un procesador BRCM4908 (Quad-Core a 1.8GHz) a un BRCM4912 (Quad-Core a 2.0GHz), y este nuevo modelo “Pro” se ve que va más desahogado gestionando muchos dispositivos. El chipset es ahora un BRCM6715 por lo que está más actualizado para manejar adaptadores WiFi más modernos. En todo caso, digamos que parece el mismo por apariencia externa, pero este “Pro” es un diseño nuevo… no tiene 8 puertos GigE como el anterior, a cambio tenemos puerto ahora 2.5GbE en WAN y LAN. La parte Guest WiFi es algo diferente… por lo demás para aquellos que conozcan el firmware Asus es muy similar por no decir casi idéntico. Se ve que responde mejor y más rápido también en gestión y configuración.Como digo, ha sido una gozada exportar una configuración que ya tenía afinada e importarla con mínimos, pero muy mínimos reajustes. No pongo otra cosa vista la estabilidad y fiabilidad de los Asus. Funciona perfectamente con Movistar/O2 y otros, ahora solo hace falta tener una ONT que se pueda hablar a más de 1GbE con el router, ya lo investigaré. Recomiendo en todo caso volver a hacer un nuevo backup de la configuración desde el nuevo equipo con el nuevo firmware, para disponer de un respaldo de la config correspondiente 100% al nuevo router. No me dejó actualizar primero, el wizard te obligaba a configurar desde cero o cargar respaldo, ponerlo a andar y una vez accedido de nuevo, actualizar el fw.Aunque lo solapo con otras soluciones de seguridad, es estupendo disponer de AiProtection Pro sin suscripción y Parental Control en especial para poder filtrar contenidos que consumen los menores de la casa, establecer horarios de acceso, etc. aunque lo puedes hacer o combinar con el control parental del dispositivo cliente.Lo recomiendo totalmente, yo lo he comenzado a usar con la versión de firmware disponible en mayo de 2024 (3.0.0.6.102_33308), por lo que no he tenido (al menos de momento) experiencias de firmware no maduro que pudieron tener algunos compradores que lo adquirieran en el momento de lanzamiento. Como bien saben los usuarios de este y otros modelos de Asus es posible usar alternativamente el firmware Merlin.Trabajo varios días a la semana en casa y necesito fiabilidad. Creo que este es el quinto o sexto router Asus que uso en casa, entre ellos el RT-AC87, luego el RT-AC88U, después el RT-AX88U y ahora este RT-AX88U Pro, todos sin problemas o averías aunque cada uno con sus características y prestaciones, lógicamente.Como digo voy a seguir usando estos dos últimos, ambos 88U (Pro y no-Pro) conviven estupendamente con el nodo repetidor AiMesh RP-AX58, en mi caso sin problemas. Totalmente recomendado.
