Research finds that 51 to 58 percent of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) projects are unsuccessful due to poor project management principles such as poor planning, poor budgeting, and poor scope management. For this reason, I embarked on a journey to examine how project schedules and implementation methodologies affected the success of Microsoft Dynamics ERP implementation projects. What I found were additional variables, with respect to organizational structure and group dynamics, also affect the project resource’s ability to deliver a successful project.
In this book, we will review the history of ERP, the most common methodologies of ERP implementations, and what makes Microsoft Dynamics ERP different. We will then review the top five critical success factors of ERP implementations, as well as the top five issues on Dynamics ERP implementation projects. Finally, we will tie it all together with a checklist of some of the most critical factors, issues, activities, and decisions that must be made throughout the lifecycle of an ERP implementation project.
It has been my hope that the results of my research and this book can be used by both Microsoft ERP implementation partners and clients to improve the quality and success of their implementation projects. Good luck and best wishes with your project.
