Excellent
Pleased with this printer. Much faster than my previous one. As a non-tech kind of person, I was pleased with how simple it was to set up and get going. Worth the extra money for the upgrade from my previous, basic printer.
Impressive Printer Scanner
Excellent printer / scanner. I bought brother because it was replacing a really old brother that had never gone wrong. This one is superb and great value for money. Quality printing, easy to use, setup straightforward. I printed a pdf and it automatically printed it double sided, I guess recognising the settings for this within the pdf. Scanning is easy. Looks like Brother are still producing the goods. Plus, it looks smart.
Very very very slow to activate and scan or print + other let downs.
I bought as I thought it would be goodPrints are ok ? BUT in draft mode prints are so bad you cant read the text.Also when you send to the printer from any PC in the house literally takes 6 mins to activate and print ?If you scanning anything it’s about same time 6 mins !Also 10 months on it developed a “cant be found on a network” spent 8 hours and eventually got back on BUT a permanent exclamation saying drivers required and the GUI not working.Easy to put drivers on and remove but does not recognise its own drivers.Never known a printer take so long, evan the trash HP one I’ve just binned printed immediately.Forget customer support nonexistent from the website.Customer support seems great answer phones and very polite, although i sorted the problem myself they can help you with im sure problem’s.I wont be buying Brother printer again as i need reliability.

I looked long and hard for a good reliable and easy to use printer for my business. Thre seemed to be so many conflicting positives and negatives about each model. My mother had used a ‘Brother’ typewriter years ago and swore by its reliability but I had always been a HP or Xerox chap. However….I am so so so GLAD I chose this printer as it does EVERYTHING I need it to ! Absolutely Brilliant. It scans, copies and prints using wife – ha ha or even WiFi… from some distance in the house too and it will even scan in multiple pages. Just amazing. Always thought Brother were American but it seems good old reliable Japanese kit (though I must admit the US does produce some great technology as well). Anyway well done Brother Machines and thank you !! UPDATE (after 3 months of ownership I have checked ink usage and it uses very very little. This printer is still performing sterling work – only caution is it does not like a very cold office and whilst it will print a warning that the temperature is cold does show up). But I cannot recommend this little printer enough – just brilliant, reliable and cheap to run.
Good printer but HUGE problems with scan software and installation
I have now had this for 5 months.The good (don’t forget to read the bad .. I would not buy this machine again).- Solid, good quality machine.- I LOVE the big ink tanks.- It has a deceptively small footprint so fits well on my desk.- The print quality is good.- It works well as a shared printer on a hard wired LAN.- Family loves the ability to print direct from their mobile phones.The bad:- WOW it was a pain to install on a LAN. I am reasonably tech aware but it was painful.- The software bundle (which enables printing and scanning) is terrible, especially the scan software. It is worse than any scanner I have ever owned, even the cheapest ones in the 1990s. Indeed the software looks like a 1990s throwback. It does not allow very very simple tasks like… use a preview to select which part of the image you want to scan. I thought I had downloaded the wrong software so checked with Brother customer services (pretty good). Even the helpline was surprised how poor the software was. It is like buying an expensive calculator and being told that it does not have a “+” key.I do not recommend this item.Brother should be ashamed to field a scanner with this lack of functionality.

This printer was easy to set up and get connected.I used the brother appAlso able to register the warranty & apply the cashback.Prints quickly- quietly- clearly – option for double sided too. Will scan double manually.Size is compact – not too many protrusions.Absolute bargain for one-fifty after cashback – especially because it included a black cartridge with 6000 prints & the rest of the colours approx 5000 each. After the value of the cartridges the printer cost about £ 30 plus includes a 3 year onsite warranty. Perfect home office or small business printer.
Easy to use and seems cheap to run
This was bought to replace a Canon printer that was just too difficult to change a wifi password on (can you believe it?!). This printer’s UI is intuitive and simple. Included were cartridges with thousands of pages capacity. It was advertised as having years of free ink but I found no such offer included, when raised with Amazon they gave a partial refund which I thought quite fair.
